I asked my Sermo community this question and you probably WON’T be surprised what their answers were. 👇🏻
💊 Pharmacists aren’t just asking for raises — they’re asking to feel human again.
What I’m hearing over and over from pharmacists isn’t, “I need more money.”
It’s:
➡️ “I want to feel valued.”
➡️ “I want to be more than just a number.”
➡️ “I want a life outside of work.”
Recently I had the honor of speaking on a topic for Florida Pharmacy Association that’s often overlooked but deeply needed: Belonging in the Workplace.
Belonging and employee engagement isn’t about installing ping pong tables or inviting employees to escape rooms. It’s about whether or not people feel PSYCHOLOGICALLY SAFE at work.
This culture ripples into productivity, engagement, job satisfaction, and profitability.
When pharmacists (or employees) feel like they matter, and that they can bring their whole self to work – everything changes — from patient care to retention and workplace culture.
🔹 Belonging = less burnout
🔹 Belonging = better performance, more engagement, less waste
🔹 Belonging = stronger teams and better business and clinical outcomes
If you’re leading a team or an organization in pharmacy and you’re seeing signs of disengagement, stress, or turnover — the answer isn’t always compensation.
Sometimes it starts with culture.
This is what I speak on: creating workplace cultures that support well-being, connection, and retention — especially in healthcare settings where burnout is at an all-time high.
